Toronto native Natalie Glebova crowned Miss Universe 2005.
So Canada is now home to both the best baller and the most beautiful woman in the world.
Miss Canada beat out Miss Puerto Rico, Dominican Republic, Mexico, and Venezuela in the final. Funny thing is, had any of the Hispanic contestants won, it most certainly would’ve been front page news in their respective country. For Canadians, who (unlike pageant-obsessed Latin America), don’t take beauty pageants seriously, this news barely made the press and got only a passing mention. Very ho-hum.

6/02/2005 08:18:00 AMYou’re right – she’s an immigrant from Russia. One of my co-workers (Jewish guy from Belarus) has a theory as to why Russian women are hot. Russia lost ~30 million people in WW2 – the vast majority were men. So after the war there was a surplus of women. Naturally, the guys chose only the hot women as wives. The hot women bore children and the unattractive ones died out. So no surprise that today’s Russians are a handsome race.
Anyhow, funny thing about Natalie (Natalia?) is
She’s 23.
She’s smoking hot.
She’s studying IT management???
