Top 5 Exam-Cram Songs
Hopefully you all have noticed that final exams are just around the corner - in fact they are less than a week away at UW. That’s right! It’s that time of the term again when we try to buckle down and compensate for all the time spent partying and sleeping over the last 3 months – unless, of course, you’re one of those “keeners” who don’t party or sleep. Despite all the pressure and stress however, most of us still need at least a few hours each day to relax and do the things we actually enjoy. Afterall we are human and not too many of us study Linear Algebra or Business Law for fun. At least I don’t, and no matter how much studying I have ahead of me, I will always have time for music – that includes listening, downloading, buying, playing, and of course writing. So here I am now devoting my so-called “study time” suggesting some tunes for you to relate to in the following weeks. (I also have a shitload dishes to wash so you guys better make use of this!)
“Wonderful World” by Sam Cooke
”Don’t know much about history / Don’t know much biology.”
Listen to this song a couple times and it’ll be playing in your head while you stare down hopeless at your exam paper, whatever subject it happens to be. (For me it'll prolly be Linear Algebra)
“Knowledge” by Operation Ivy
”All I know is that I don’t know nothing.”
Like “Wonderful World”, this song is about knowing nothing - but at least Sam Cooke was singing to a girl. Operation Ivy are just singing about being stupid. Catchy song though.
“Head” by Tin Star
“I've got to do my exams today I've read my books turned up on time but I haven't revised / I'm not getting along I'm not getting the answers.”
Sounds like a lot of us during exam time, doesn't it?
“Sinking Ships” by Sloan
Imagine knowing that you have an exam in 12 hours and you still haven’t started studying for it. (For many of you it shouldn’t be so difficult to imagine!) You might as well be singing, “We’ve got a long, we’ve got a long, we’ve got a long way to go.”
“E=MC” by MC Hawking
This one’s for those in Physics and Applied Math. Find it and listen to it – it’s quite funny. (Thanks to Jon Greenwood for suggesting it last term)
