Summer School
So where have all the people gone?
I've never seen this campus so desolate! The Arts majors have returned to their hick towns ending in -ford and -burg, half the engineers and mathies are doing placements in the GTA, and the fobs have gone back to China.
That leaves... the rest of us. An interesting mix of co-op mathies/engineers + keeners in other faculties who want to complete their degrees ASAP. It also (probably) means that locals/townies will be in the plurality in most of the places students like to frequent.
Anyhow, things always appear really laid back in the summer. I can see how warm weather induces a certain lethargy - it's probably why pretty much all the affluent nations of the world are cold-weather countries, and the only well-off countries in the tropics (HK/Singapore, Australia/New Zealand) were settled by cold-weather Chinese and Brits respectively. It's hard to nail your ass to a chair when the weather is so damn pleasant outside - you want to go out and play catch!
One learns to appreciate these days all the more because we only see the sun about 3 months in the year.
Also saw MI:3 today. I liked the action pieces, though Tristan begs to differ (and since you pledged to write movie reviews, I'm expecting some output out of you man.) Shanghai looks amazing - definetely ought to go there sometime - and pretty much confirms my view the future is oriented towards the Far East (no pun intended). And Tom Cruise is truly bizarre - check him out on 106 & Park.
