Blog Feuds: A Look Back

That latest explosion isn't anything new. This blog has seen its share of feuds over the years. Here’s a recap.

James/Smiley vs. Sen (Round 1), February 2005

This was from way back when this blog was in its infancy. James posts a rather incriminating picture of Sen on this blog. Sen takes down the pic and locks out James & Smiley so they get the hint. Smiley threatens to boycotts in protest, citing:

    BLOG STRIKE...
Recently, I learned that James had been kicked off the blog for posting a somewhat embarrasing pic of Sen on this site. Much to my chagrin, for some reason I was also kicked off the blog. I didn't even know this until I got an invite email. "What I was kicked off the blog too?" I guess Sen thought me James and Eddie had a conspiracy to sabotage him with that hooters picture. This was not the case however and so in respsone to Sen's authoritarian rule of this blog...i am not going to rejoin this blog until an undecided future point in time.

James/Smiley vs. Sen (Round 2), July 2005

Sen comes up with a brilliant idea – to use Google’s new AdSense program to generate revenue from the blog. James is not down with the idea and nixes it promptly. Smiley, once again, boycotts in protest.

please deactivate me from this blog

    thank you

Smiley vs. Spammers, October 2005

Smiley is enraged by the onslaught of spam messages on our comment boards. Smiley wasn’t smiling this time.

fuck these fucking spammers. this is horse shit. what a bunch of fucking douchebags. mind you it not much worse than when Sen tried to make a few cents with his fucking google ads. hopes this teaches you a lesson Sen, you cheap bastard.

Brock Campbell vs. Sen, July 2006

After a relatively peaceful year, tempers begin to flare again as Waterloo endures a record heat wave. Brock Campbell returns from retirement to express reservations about Sen’s “FOB-bashing”.

Eddie vs. Smiley, July 2006

The mother of all feuds, this one is legendary. A seemingly harmless post about a Westerner’s distate towards Toronto degenerates into a 26-comment hate-fest replete with personal attacks and threats of violence. Peace talks are imminent.

Mong vs. Sen, September 2006

A misunderstanding incites Mong's fury and puts Sen on the defensive. Tensions have been diffused as both parties have agreed to put it behind them.

The thing is, I always end up returning to this blog after a long time to read what I've missed and there's always some sort of fight, argument, random bitching, etc going on.

You guys need to relax ;)

I will admit, from an outsider's point of view, it's kind of amusing... A little, tiny, bit ;)

Good to see you back Uma.

This blog wouldn't be the same without all the bickering and infighting... it's actually really funny because the things that bring about the feuds are pretty trivial.
