WTF is "OBAY"
Each time I board the TTC, one is bombarded with strange adds... of something called OBAY
I don't know what this product is but here are some examples of lines used:

“When Amy started thinking for herself, we had to nip it in the bud with Obay.”
“Are your children starting to think for themselves? Put a stop to it now with OBAY.”
“My son used to have his own hopes and aspirations. Now he has mine. Thanks, Obay!”
“Are your children starting to think for themselves? Put a stop to it now with OBAY.”
“My son used to have his own hopes and aspirations. Now he has mine. Thanks, Obay!”
WTF is this, after googling it, the only thing I found was a knock off site of EBAY http://www.hypermodern.net/obay/popup.htm
I am guessing this is some kind of new advertising campaign...

You're not the only one talking about this... and I've seen the ads everywhere too. If you google TTC and Obay, you get a bunch of blogs talking about the same thing (including this post... that was fast!)
2/19/2008 07:59:00 AMI've heard theories that it's some sort of market research (see how many people google it), or some secretive ad campaign that we'll hear more about soon... or something like that. Some people think it's just a spoof or awareness ad about how over-medicated kids are these days.
Who knows...

Its a paradox... on one had it grabs your attention and on the other hand, it appears so stupid, and annoying that the message is lost. This only proves that you can advertise just about anything. These adds have made there way to London too? thats creepy!

I saw one on the side of a bus yesterday and was actually really amused by it.
2/21/2008 01:15:00 PMThey sound so sarcastic... I can't wait to find out what it's all about.

Yup. The secret is out. I saw the ad yesterday on the bus, but with a big plaster over it saying 'Thankfully Obey is not real. Let your children make their own choices. Ontariocollages.ca" Or something like that.
3/06/2008 06:56:00 PMIt was an interesting campaign, I guess... What do you guys think?

I was about to write another post on the subject. The add campaing was clever, but it almost seemed that it fizzled out. The media, was all over it, and when "obay" was released, no one seemed to care. How many children out there are pushed to go to school by their parents anyways? My guess is few, which is why the add fizzled in the end.
