Places to Go In Waterloo (part 3)

Lunch Specials in UW

On the Waterloo campus, tired of eating at the over priced UW Food Services joints such as Brubakers, and the one in DC? Getting sick of Tim Hortons as well? Recently a friend and I discovered a brand new place to eat, which is relatively cheap and the food is the best on campus. This place is the cafeteria located in Conrad Grabel, and serves home made Mennonite food. For $4 bucks you have a full lunch course, which includes home made juice, dessert and main dish. This place serves the best chicken burgers, which are far superior then UW’s famous Spicy Chicken Sandwich. The only downside is, they only serve one type of dish a day, so you there is a limited variety. The quality of food and its price out weigh this, and I recommend going here at least once if you are in UW. Not only that but the lounge at this college has the best leather seats!!!

Atmosphere: 10 out of 10 (go to the lounge)Friendliness: 9 out of 10 (random people will sit down and eat lunch with you)Drink selection: 0 out of 10 (It’s a Mennonite college!!!!, if you go here to drink alcohol you truly are a dumb-ass)Music: 0 out of 10 again it’s a cafeteria though I am sure the Mennonite wouldn’t mind if you brought a stereo system

The Bomber is also a good place to grab lunch or dinner. Its relatively cheap, and you get a lot of food for your buck esp. the unlimited chicken drumsticks on Wednesday nights. There Tacos are also good. The one set back to the bomber is that the waiters are inexperienced and slow, and often, it takes them 5 minutes to give you a menu. To compensate for this go right up to the bar, and grab a menu, let them know you are here, and let the wonders of Capitalism run its course. =)

Atmosphere: 8 out of 10 (the bomber is an interesting, they just need to revamp the décor, place more comfortable seats unlike those crappy wooden ones in there)Friendliness: 4 out of 10 Once you eat at the Mennonite cafeteria, this place is crap, then again, I think that the bomber is one of the least friendliness pubs in Waterloo.Drink selection: Selection of drinks isn’t great, but acceptable. 4 out of 10Music: 5 out of 10 Sound is often muffled, again, personally I feel that they should modify the pub, and make it more cooler.
