America Fuck Yea!
As much as people portray the USA, as this heartless, capitalist nation, actually visiting the nation, I was astonished by the warm kind hospitality the Americans gave to me.
San Diego, California:
An extremely beautiful city, clean with interesting architecture. The downtown core is located right beside the Pacific Ocean, and is home to America’s largest naval reserve and fleet. In the distance one can hear helicopters fly overhead, my guess patrolling the ocean, practicing flying, and showing off their military might. The people of San Diego were extremely friendly. People would randomly spark conversations with me, and talk about anything. The city is however sprawled out, much like Toronto is, the only difference, is that vast desert separates the downtown from the suburbs. Many places worth seeing, such as the Midway Aircraft Carrier, a Naval museum, documenting old military technology and legacies of the Cold War Era.
Los Angeles, California:
TV makes this city look nice, when in reality it’s really dirty. Entering the city one is filled with bad vibes. Gangs roam the streets located at the outskirts of town, often hanging in ominous circles, leaving one to only guess what they are doing. Exiting the car, and entering the hotel, we were approached by a homeless ‘person’ (to this day we can’t determine the sex of this individual). First ‘it’ asked for money, than demanded for money saying “I want my money now!” Very rude. One will need a car to explore this city, as everything is even more sprawled out then San Diego. Hollywood, was very dirty, and very crowded on a Saturday night. Clubbing was fun, but very pricy, 30 bucks for cover alone, and 7.50 for a bottle of beer, and 9 bucks for a shot, definity not the place to get drunk at. LA has amazing shopping centres. There malls are filled with pricy name brand stores, and yes even have bars in their lobbies. Went on a massive shopping spree at a store called Armani Exchange. Good Times!
“TJ” Tijuana, Mexico
One can literally walk across the border of California and enter Mexico. With no security, but one of those metal one way doors found at all TTC stations, one can walk into this nation with ease. TJ, as it’s called by local Californians, was a place Sen would like. Cheap stuff, and as you can haggle down with the vendors. TJ was very depressing though, witnessing poverty of this magnitude can depress even the most jovial individual. Children lying on the dirt floor, covered in filth, would play as their parents would attempt to sell literally anything to passing tourist.
Mexico/US Border:
There’s not much here but desert and mountains. Quite beautiful really. Why would I blog about this? well, there is this tiny airport here, were pilots train to fly small aircrafts and insane people jump out of those aircrafts; I was one of those people… I finally fulfilled my dream of sky diving. Best rush ever. Got to see a desert, mountains, downtown San Diego, TJ, and the Pacific Ocean all at once from 12000 feet in the air. No words can describe the feeling of flying without the aid of a mechanical device ~ was totally worth it.
I’ll put the pics on facebook or something. If you ever get the chance, give California a shot, its definitely a great warm place to visit.

I'm surprised that despite how much family I have in California, I have never bothered going there. For some reason I've always had a negative view of LA (pollution, crime, bad infastructure), but I guess it can't be valid until I actually go there.

Much of LA is dirty, but there are nice places to see. The malls over there rock. Overall California is very beautiful, if you ever get the chance I'd recomend going.
