New Russell Peters Video

I know this about our sixth post on this guy, but more people come onto this site searching this Russell Peters than anything else. Well I’ve got this new video. 60 min of fresh, hilarious new material. Don’t ask how it came to be or came to me.

Some good ones:

“All kinds of Indian people in here that’s cool…somewhere in Queen’s there’s a dollar store closed early tonight, this is not good.... I knew there’d be a lot of Indian people in here tonight, I saw all the empty cabs parked in front of the club.”

“It’s so funny when I mention sex around Indian people they all get “Oooh…we don’t talk about sex!” Indians are the most hypocritical people on the planet you know that? We don’t ever want to talk about sex, yet we’re the second largest population in the world… SOMEBODY’S FUCKING!”

Also Russell Peters clears up why he has an Anglo name.

“I want to clear something up right now, right from the start. My name is Russell Peters. THAT IS MY NAME. That is my real name, that is my birth name, that’s not my fucking stage name, I didn’t change shit to impress you, that’s my name. Don’t come up to me and say (mock Indian accent) “Ey Russell! Come on…(laugh)… come on man! Russell Peters! What’s your REAL name?!”. That’s my real fucking name! Both my parents are from India and they named me Russell Peters, you gotta problem with it talk to my parents… Eric and Maureen. And my brother Julio.”

I loved Russell's interaction with the audience, how the humour flows naturally. This guy's smooth - and the perfect antidote when you’ve come back from a motherfucking SOA exam (and gauging by today’s exam, those SOA crackers are on the pipe). Somebody ink Russell a sitcom. Somebody has.

Hehe, ok, while some of the material was used before when he came to Western (and that's expected by any comedian), the new stuff was hilarious.

I especially liked the indian movie skit, the hot girl from behind and the whole name thing again...

Hehe. Thanks again!!

(oh and btw, can someone delete my post above so my e-mail isn't up... thank you! ;))

Good performance (IMO better than his UW stint) and lots of desi-oriented humour - understandable given the crowd. My favourite was "'I'm from Eeeengland' - 'Never heard of it' 'I believe you're speaking our language!' 'I'm speaking English man I dont know what your speaking/"

I thought the deaf girl & Bollywood joke were too drawn out - long build up but weak punch. Despite what anyone says (ie. Siver), no one can do accents like Russell though. It'll be interesting to see how his upcoming sitcom turns out. Do we have a brown Jerry Seinfeld here?

I think Russell Peter's humour is young-urban-visible-minority-male-oriented,
whereas Jerry “what’s-the-deal-with” Seinfeld's humour appeals most to the yuppie in Jew York City.

I sent the link to the thing he did in BC to everyone I know; old, young, whatever. Russell has universal appeal. The really good comedians use everyday life situations to set up the gag, and he is very sharp. His accents are perfect, especially when he does white guys in Canada. I still laugh every time I think of it.
