Taking Cover at the Bomber
So last night turned out to be a pretty hairy night at The Bomber!
It started off innocuously enough. After a couple of shows of Margaret Cho's sitcom bust All-American Girl, Jane, Xiaodi, James, James2 brave the cold in a taxi and head to the Bomber for the first time in years!
The lineup to get in was craaazzzyy. To make matters worse, there were the inevitable cutters, budders, squeezers and weavers. On the plus side, there is Earl and Wolfgang, a couple of guys from my residence. But behind us there happen to be a bunch of boorish out-of-town thugs who are slightly intoxicated and getting very impatient. I tell Jane and Xiaodi to hold their ground, but this mulatto guy starts cutting them in line. Wouldn't you know it, Xiaodi and Jane take exception, and the next thing you know Jane, Xiaodi and mulatto are in a very heated argument... over queuing protocol. (Mind you, this is not the first time one of us has got into a tussle while in line at The Bomber.)
But we do get in finally, and our first reaction is like WTF? With two hours of waiting, I was expecting this joint to be more packed than a Hong Kong flea market. But they make us wait for nearly 2 hours... and there's all this empty space! And secondly, it took them 6 months to renovate this place? Apart from the revamped bar area, hardly anything had changed!
Well we head to bar to order shots, and on the way I feel someone grab my ass. I turn around and Xiaodi points to a girl behind us... the white chick looked vaguely familiar, where had I seen her before?!? But a round of tequila shots later, wouldn't you know it, some of the guys who'd been behind us in line show up again. This time a brown guy and his Asian buddy confront Xiaodi and Jane. This guy alleges that Xiaodi had elbowed one of "his boys" in the abdomen (boy it looked like our meek Chinese guy was really throwing the punches tonight!) Xiaodi had "disrespected" one of his boys, says he, and once again Jane, Xiaodi and "the boys" get in a very heated discussion.
So, as I understood, according to their convoluted honour code, if one boy is "disrespected", all the boys take offence. I'm thinking Guys, you're already in. No need to get your panties in a knot. But then, out of nowhere, a Fat Asian guy shoves James2 and he goes down quicker than a Thai hooker. FA looked mad as hell.
Well finally we lose these clowns. Unfortunately, upon hitting the dance floor we lose James2 too. So Jane gets worried sick about this guy, and we scan over the entire Bomber at least 3 times. I tell her not to worry - the guy (presumably) left on his own accord and we don't have his number, so what are we to do? But at the back of our minds we're thinking Buddha & Co took him out back and roughed him up, and his bloodied carcas is freezing in a gutter in Cambridge somewhere.
But wouldn't you know it as the Bomber shuts down and the four of us stumble out, there is James2 seated at the big comfy SLC couches, a big grin on his face. Why? Didn't feel like dancing. Yet you waited in line for 2 hours and nearly got your ass handed to you. Nigga, please.

James2 found safe and sound!

I admire your logic in not fighting. But i just find it a little disturbing that with all you guys there, only Jane stood up for Xiaodi.
